Julie Urbišová, autorka knihy Doma v Nola, s námi přímo u břehů Mississippi natočila reportáž o cestě na French Quarter Festival v New Orleans a hraní s místními muzikanty pro pořad Stop Time na stanici Čeký Rozhlas Jazz. Poslechněte si, jak hrajeme s místními a které jedinečné muzikanty jsme potkali. Jedno víme jistě, vrátíme se! Byl to ten nejlepší hudební zážitek posledních let.
Ve spolupráci s Radioservisem při Českém rozhlase vydáváme krásné album plné nových písní s hosty výtvarníkem a básníkem Jiřím Slívou a trumpetistou Michaelem Gunnarem Fultonem z USA. CD bude hotovo před Vánoci a my děkujeme našim partnerům za podporu při jeho vydání!

Na křídlech jazzu opět pokračuje v jarním turnusu a chystá se i podzimní program abonentního cyklu v Hangáru Leteckého muzea Metoděje Vlacha v Mladé Boleslavi. Po Jaroslav Šindler Quartet nás 19.února čeká hotová ženská smršť v podobě sesterstva HOT Sisters. V pondělí 4. března se navrátí dixieland v podobě plzeňských The Dixie Hot Licks, 25. března se můžete těšit na swingové melodie v podání krásného zpěvu Jakuba Machuldy a 22. dubna opět spolu se mnou J.J.Jazzmen. Těšíme se na vás, lístky opět na podkladně leteckého muzea.
She landed her first gig at the age of 16 with traditional jazz band Hot Club (founded by Jiří Melichar) in her hometown - Mladá Boleslav.
In 2017 drummer Miloš Kejř asked Barbora to join the band J. J. Jazzmen founded by Jan Jirucha in 1993 and formed by amazing musicians Josef Pospíšil (trombone), Jakub Ševčík (trumpet), Jan Greifoner (bass) and Jiří Růžička (piano) playing the contemporary New Orleans sound. The chemistry on and off-stage works exceptionally well, and they perform regularly in the best jazz and blues clubs as Reduta Jazz Club, Jazz Dock - Jazz & Blues Bar & Café, Jazz & Blues Club Ungelt, Jazz & Cocktail Club Old Lady's, M4 Music Club as well as various jazz and
Due to her devotion to blues and soul, Barbora founded in 2025 Barbra's Blue Notes band performing with wonderful Jan Štolba (saxophone), Jarda Minář (drums), Standa Mácha (piano) and Jan Greifoner (bass) regularly in Reduta Jazz Club paying their tribute to the legends like Bessie Smith, Carmen McRae, Etta James or Janis Joplin. Blue Notes combine electrifying performance with a celebration of timeless bond between jazz, blues and soul.
Barbora cooperates with excellent musicians performing in a trio with a nostalgic and tender sound of piano and bass bringing style and vintage atmosphere to various private events and venues. Apart from the aforementioned, you can hear Barbora singing regularly with other bands as a guest.
Barbora's biggest wish is to spend a few weeks studying music in New Orleans where she went together with other musicians Miloš Kejř and Martin Masáček in April 2019. Czech National Radio Jazz broadcasted a report about their journey and performance in NOLA with amazing artists from New Orleans and all around the globe.
Organizing events and small festivals is one of Barbora's passions. In cooperation with Vladimír Handlík, director of the Letecké muzeum Metoděje Vlacha, she founded a festival On the Wings of Jazz that takes place every autumn and spring season for almost a decade.

Barbora propadla kouzlu jazzu, blues a swingu už jako malé dítě. "Když si vzpomenu na jakýkoliv zásadní moment nebo radost v mém životě, vždy byly tyhle chvíle spojeny s hudbou. Snila jsem o časech, kdy muzikanti a zpěváci byli umělci v pravém slova smyslu s neskutečným nábojem, úrovní a elegancí. Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Etta James, BB King a Julie London s Rayem Charlesem jsou pro mne věčné a nedostižné vzory."
První sólový koncert přišel v 16ti letech s kapelou Hot Club (založil Jiří Melichar) hrající tradiční jazz v Mladé Boleslavi, odkud Barbora pochází. Postupně jako zpěvačka získávala zkušenosti a brzy byly koncerty Hot Clubu pravidelně vyprodány díky enormní podpoře ze strany - nejen boleslavského - publika. "Jsme spolu s mými chlapci už 17 let a to v dobrém i ve zlém," dodává se smíchem. "Jsou pro mě jako má rodina. A díky jejich vlivu jsem si zamilovala mistry žánru jako je William C. Handy, Joe King Oliver, Louis Armstrong a mnohé další."
V roce 2017 oslovil Barboru bubeník Miloš Kejř, aby se jako zpěvačka připojila ke kapele J. J. Jazzmen zaloužené Janem Jiruchou v roce 1993 hrající contemporary New Orleans sound. Kapelu tvoří fantastičtí Josef Pospíšil (trombon a zpěv), Jakub Ševčík (trumpeta a zpěv), Jan Greifoner (kontrabas) a Jiří Růžička (piano). Chemie mezi nimi na jevišti i mimo něj zafungovala zcela výjimečně, kdy si porozuměli hudebně i lidsky. Začali tedy vystupovat společně v nejlepších pražských jazzových a bluesových klubech jako je Reduta Jazz Club, Jazz Dock - Jazz & Blues Bar & Café, Jazz & Blues Club Ungelt, Jazz & Cocktail Club U Staré paní, M4 Music Club a na jazzových a dixielandových festivalech v Německu, Polsku, Švýcarsku nebo Rakousku. Kapela oslavila 30. výročí albem vydaným pod Českým rozhlasem Do they play jazz in heaven? kde hostuje také americký top hráč na trumpetu, Mike Fulton (The Jumbo Shrimp Jazz Band) .
Z lásky k blues a soulu založial v roce 2025 Barbora kapelu Blue Notes, kde pravidelně vystupuje s naprosto vynikajícími Janem Štolbou (saxofon), Jardou Minářem (bicí), Standou Máchou (piano) a Janem Greifonerem (kontrabas) v Jazz Clubu Reduta s poctou královnám blues jako byla Bessie, Smith, Carmen McRae, Etta James nabo Janis Joplin. Blue Notes oslavují propojení žánrů a mimořádnou hudební souhru s čirou radostí.
Barbora spolupracuje s dalšími excelentními muzikanty v triu, jehož hra má nostalgicky něžný sound. Nejčastěji tak spolu s pianem a kontrabasem vystupují na privátních akcích nejen v ČR. Krom zmiňovaných hudebních uskupení můžete Barboru vidět pravidelně vystupovat jako hosta s mnoha dalšími uskupeními.
Organizovat kulturní akce a koncerty je jednou z Barbořiných radostí. Proto byl ve spolupráci s Vladimírem Handlíkem, ředitelem Leteckého muzea Metoděje Vlacha, založen festival "Na křídlech jazzu", kam zve Barbora každé jaro a podzim ty nejlepší muzikanty už téměř 10 let.
Barbořiným největším přáním je znovu se vrátit a studovat hudbu přímo v New Orleans, které navštívila spolu s muzikanty Milošem Kejřem a Martinem Masáčkem. Český Rozhlas Jazz vysílal v rámci pořadu Stop Time o jejich cestě a vystoupeních spolu s tamními rodilými a mezinárodními hudebníky reportáž Julie Urbišové, autorky knihy Doma v Nola.
Po studiích ve Francii, Itálii a Rakousku Barbora založila svou firmu, nadále pokračuje v práci v oblasti zdravotnictví a vzdělávaní a podporuje jako člen správní rady neziskovou organizacu N.R.O.S.
